                                 Happy New Year! As we enter a new year with new and fresh ideas, we have “new and fresh”
                                 leadership for 2018. Welcome aboard to President Ray Alexander, Vice President Ben Pettry,
                                 Secretary Nancy Keen, Treasurer Steve Vantine, Social Chair Cheri Nichols and Data Admin
                                 Tim Farris. A special thanks to the board members staying for an additional year: Membership
                                 - Tom Nelson, Supper Faire - Winnie Kunkle, Day Cruises - John Nowak and Gary Buckman,
                                 and overnight cruises - Mark Kenyon. And to those members taking a well deserved break
                                 after many years serving the Cruising Club, thank you Carol Geiger, Becky Getz and Libby
                                 Krzyzanowski! We finished our 2017 season with our Annual Christmas Party/Membership
         Meeting and a fantastic lunch cruise to Boca Grande with lunch at South Beach. We topped the tree with a final 2017
         dart night at the Ice House with our friend John Berry. There’s a lot on the books for 2018 with overnight and lunch
         cruises, Men’s & Ladies lunches, Picnics,
         Super Faire, dinner shows, and lots more.                                              South Beach Lunch

         for updates. As I close and hand over
         steering to President Ray, I cannot thank
         the members of the board for the last two
         years for all they have done to help me.
         And our membership, you are the BEST!
         Thank you for your input, support, help
         and putting up with “Mr. Microphone”! It’s
         been my pleasure to be your President.

         Comments from 2018 President Ray
         Alexander:

         It was a surprise when Vice President
         Gerald Ford took over the presidency from Richard Nixon. Early on, Gerry commented that he was “a Ford, not a
         Lincoln.” What I have in common with Gerry Ford is that it was a bit of a surprise to become President. What we don’t
         have in common is that my predecessor, Larry MacKinnon, set a very high standard by any measure of performance.
         Like Gerry Ford, I will do my best to maintain the customs and traditions of this wonderful club while hoping to achieve
         some aspects of Larry’s two years as President.

                                                                Kittie and I are beginning our 16  year as members of the
         Day Cruise Directors & First Mates
                                                                Punta Gorda Isles Cruising Club. We have loved being a
                                                                part of the club and the wonderful friendships we have
                                                                made. We repeat Larry MacKinnon’s “thank you” to the
                                                                club officers, committee chairs and volunteers who made
                                                                2017 a success. We look forward to another excellent
                                                                year with the club.
