PGICA ACOUSTIC MUSIC CLUB Dan Osborne, 941-505-2509, josborned@yahoo.com
One of our most recent meetings was the holiday gathering at the home of Dan
Osborne where we had the opportunity to socialize, eat, drink, and play music.
This month
we are
featuring
Carl
Dickisson,
who has
been with the Acoustic Music Club since its inception
more than four years ago. Carl grew up in New
Jersey and moved to Florida to attend the University
of South Florida where he met his wife, Karin, who
came from
Germany to
study. Upon
their return
to New
Jersey, Carl
started his own company doing computer system development, which became a
lifelong career. Because of his computer background, Carl has been very helpful
with the technology development for our club. Carl has been playing guitar since
college and has been building guitars as a hobby since 2007. He has taken
guitar building classes from some of the best known guitar builders such as
Frank Finocchio and Ervin Somogyi. Here you see some of the tools and
materials he uses to build his
guitars along with one of the
guitars he built. Carl says
building a custom guitar is a
complex task that requires
dedication and patience to
achieve the desired sound,
which is not feasible with
mass produced guitars.

Carl intends to fully invest in
other activities as well such as long distance sailing which has included
trips to the Bahamas, Bermuda, and Maine. Other very challenging
activities for Carl have included numerous marathons, several ultra-
marathons, skiing, and rock climbing. Carl stays in condition by
competing in local 5k running events. He continues to be very involved
with the Acoustic Music Club as one of our more disciplined musicians.
We thank Carl for his continued interest and help with moving the
Acoustic Music Club forward. Guitar Building
