JFF ~ JUST FOR FUN Kerry Foscardo, kerfos@aol.com
It is difficult to believe that 2017 drew to an end and we ushered in 2018. What wonderful memories
we have of 2017 with JFF with so many activities and fun-filled activities.
The JFF members certainly know how to turn clouds into sunshine. Our planned Thanksgiving group
dinner at Ponce de Leon Park was on the
rainiest day in weeks but we still had a great
time. Bob and Kay Abbs graciously welcomed
46 hungry folks into their home on short
notice. We enjoyed a scrumptious and festive
meal and had plenty to be thankful for. A fun
time was had by all and we even had the
pleasure of welcoming several new members.
On Sunday, December 3, our Christmas
Holiday Party was held at the Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club.
After a social hour we had a delicious dinner and then danced
the night away!
Let’s start out 2018 with a
TGIF happy hour on Friday,
January 5 at F.M. Don’s, which
is at the corner of Marion
Avenue and Taylor Street in Punta Gorda.
On Monday, January 8 our fun-loving ladies will be gathering for our monthly girls’ game
night. Sign up on the website for this popular evening of games, snacks, and laughter.
Mix & Mingle is on Monday, January 15 at 5 at St. Andrews South Golf Club. We always
have a good turnout for this social mixer. Prospective members are encouraged to join
us.
Our JFF ladies will be enjoying a very tasty lunch at The Perfect Caper on Marion
Avenue at noon, Tuesday,
January 16. The proprietors
are Jeanie and James Roland. Chef Jeanie beat Bobby Flay on
his Food Network show a few years ago. It was impressive.
Please join us after signing up on the JFF website.
The JFF men's lunch will also be on Tuesday, January 16. Join
the guys at Beef ‘O’Brady’s in Punta Gorda. Sign up is not
necessary so just show up at noon for a good meal with the
guys.
Since so many JFF members are going on a Caribbean cruise
on January 20, we decided to get in the spirit. Everyone is
welcome to join the good times on Wednesday, January 17 at
PGICA for A Night in the Caribbean. This event promises to be
an action-packed night in the Caribbean with bright colors,
music, food, activities, and fun! Sign up on the website and let
us know what you will be bringing to the potluck dinner. Please
remember to bring a dish to serve at least 12 people.
The 2018 JFF group cruise is only weeks away. We will be flying to San Juan, PR to sail away on January 20 to visit
ports in St. Kitts, Antigua, Nassau, and St. Thomas. The cruise will end in Fort Lauderdale. There are 35 cabins booked
for this terrific seven-night Caribbean cruise on the Celebrity Summit. Contact Deb Sulla at dasisme2@yahoo.com for
more information.
There has been so much excitement and interest in cruising with fellow JFF’ers that we are already planning another
one. In February 2019, we will sail in and out of Fort Lauderdale on a five-night cruise aboard the Celebrity Infinity with
visits to Cozumel and Key West. We are being offered special discounts for a limited time, so hurry to book. Contact our
own cruise director, Deb Sulla, at dasisme2@yahoo.com for more information.
