MARINERS OF PGI Susan Hills, Vice Commodore, vicecommodore@marinersofpgi.org

If you are in VHF radio contact with the Coast Guard or Coast Guard Auxiliary, they may direct
you to switch to a channel followed by the word alpha. What does the alpha designation mean?
Alpha designates that your radio must be set on U.S. rather than international to receive and
                              transmit.

During the Christmas season our members
enjoyed cruises and social activities with a holiday theme.

A two-night cruise to South Seas Resort early in December was well
attended. The resort goes all out with holiday decorations.
Participants enjoyed the holiday festivities and the beautiful Christmas
lights. Santa was there to entertain those that are young at heart!
Members that attended the second South Seas Resort cruise for
three nights later in the month were also entertained with holiday
         activities and beautiful displays.

Several lunch cruises took Mariners to the Elks Lodge with its
beautiful view of the Peace River, Callaloo Restaurant with its island Breakfast with the Gals at 88 Keys
flavor, Cabbage Key Inn and Restaurant with the best cheeseburger
in paradise, the ever-popular Laishley Crab House, and the
         conveniently located Harpoon Harry’s.

Breakfast with the gals at 88 Keys Florida in the Wyvern Hotel was
attended by 21 members. The notecard gift exchange made the
morning even more enjoyable by adding a holiday vibe.

                                            Our winter wonderland
                                            holiday party was a very
                                            festive affair, held at the
                                            PGICA. Dancing and feasting
                                            on a wonderful buffet rounded
                                            out the evening.

Several boats rang in the new Breakfast with the Gals at 88 Keys
year with a two-night cruise to
                                            the Don Pedro Island
anchorage on December 30 and 31. Many enjoyed the sandy beach and the
beautiful sunsets. The bubbly was passed around to ring in the new year
                                            somewhere around Punta Gorda midnight.
