HOT! HOT! HOT! And WET! WET! WET!
Well, it’s FLORIDA in the summer! Weather
didn’t stop many of the car club members
from enjoying planned cruises during late
summer and early fall. Notably, 15 members
traveled to Sarasota for a tour of the Classic
Car Museum, followed by lunch at the
Ringling. On September 4, several people
joined in the celebration of Pioneer Days in
Englewood where more than 50 Corvettes
participated in the 61st annual parade and
were later on display along Dearborn Street.
This was a jaw-dropping exhibit of Vettes
ranging from the 1950s to this year’s 2017
Stingray.
With good weather just around the corner,
Don Gordon, PGICC Cruise Director, has a
number of trips planned, including a visit to
CAR’s Inc. in North Ft. Myers, the Babcock
Ranch, the REV’s Institute in Naples, and the
Museum of Art and Whimsy.
FEATURED CAR 1: 2008 Ford Mustang GT /
Shelby GT-H
This one owner beauty was bought new in
December 2007 in Alcoa, Tennessee, and has
resided in South Florida / Punta Gorda since
2009. Ford did not offer a Candy Apple Red
Shelby GT-H for 2008 so with the aid of
American Muscle and other vendors this one-off
GT-H was created. Everyone who sees this low
mileage beauty thinks it’s the real deal. The
owners of this Mustang are Jeff and Denise
Barlow, charter members of the Punta Gorda
Isles Car Club. The Barlows have owned Ford
products for over 40 years and currently have
five Fords in their stable.

car aficionados, Dennis has owned a variety of
vehicles starting with his high school/college car,
a 1964 Ford Falcon. Other cars included a1972
Camaro, a 1975 Monte Carlo, a 1983 Audi 5000,
a 1984 Camaro, a 1995 Cadillac Deville, a 2000
Celica GTS, a Volvo 2002 S60, a 2009 Cadillac
