More activities that bring members together with one
another and encourage mingling with other PGICA
members include Darts for Newcomers and Others,
Biking with Friends, and Ladies Book Club. August
winners were the team of Barry Miller and Wayne
Erickson…how they got placed together is a mystery
to the second-place team of Renee Bothwell and
Frank Easby-Smith! Because the usual darts date
falls on Halloween, the October date will be
announced in an email to all who have participated in
the past. To be added to that list, contact Wayne
Erickson at wayneerickson48@gmail.com.
Biking with Friends continues on Thursday mornings
at 8:30 a.m., from in front of PGI Grill on Aqui Esta
and Bal Harbor. Helmets are highly recommended.
This is a leisurely ride of about 10 miles and
members return to the Grill for coffee and
conversation. More information is available from Sue Biking with Friends
Manternach, sueman16@gmail.com or
239-339-7517.
Linda Cram, 401-474-2436, and Lisa Koeneman, 540-580-5965, report their book club is humming along nicely, which
means they’ve been reading and discussing great books over the summer. While the group is at capacity, other members
can contact them for tips on how to start another group.
It’s not too early to mark your calendar for the club’s annual Christmas party on Wednesday, December 6. The event will
be held at the Twin Isles Country Club, 301 Madrid Boulevard, Punta Gorda. Susan McKittrick has a committee hard at
work and has lined up the band Tatz 2 for the
evening. More information will be included on the
club’s website and in e-blasts as it becomes available.
This was a great evening last year and no doubt will
be again!
Membership Chairman Steve Brown reports that
Dwayne and Donna Carr of Massachusetts have
recently joined the club. Welcome to them and others
who have checked us out at various activities!
A nominating committee including Steve Brown, Bill
Muir, and Susan Brown is actively searching for new
Board officers and activity chairpersons. If you are
called on to take a Board position or activity chairman
spot, please carefully consider how you could help the
club next year. It is fun to shape the club in ways that
make it welcoming to as many who choose to
participate and enjoy themselves and others!
