A recent meeting was a Labor Day picnic/BBQ where we gathered for the
holiday to enjoy a meal together, socialize, and play music.
Here you see Dave Dines entertaining
us with his bagpipes.
Labor Day Picnic
This was our first gathering since the loss of one of our very own.
Dianne Godina suddenly and unexpectedly passed away while visiting
family.
The grief was
compounded
for the family,
by the
passing of
her mother
Dave Dines four days
later. Dianne,
being one of
the most recent to join our club, was our most enthusiastic and
folky member. Her vibrant personality, knowledge of music, and
talent added so much to our club. As a remembrance, it would
be fitting to reread the April 2017 ‘Acoustic Music Club’
Commentator article that featured Dianne and her life.
For those who knew Dianne, she will be dearly missed. It has
been said that our club is not just a group of people who play
music. We have bonded to the point where we value the
concept of caring for one another. A number of club members
or spouses are struggling with life challenges and support has
been forthcoming in different ways. We have made donations,
comforted in times of need, and arranged meeting schedules to
accommodate for physical disabilities. Through all of this, the
music has continued and has offered us great solace. There is
much to be said for the therapeutic value of playing music and
many of us have personally experienced the healing power of
playing music together.
