misplaced your wallet before going on a dive trip. Thanks, Tanya, for bringing us into the 21 century!
We enjoyed a fun social time at Beef O’Brady’s in mid-August for some casual dining and are looking forward to
exploring again the Blue Heron Bridge at West Palm Beach later in September. It is a great place for night dives, so that
will be on our agenda. Members also enjoy going back to the Keys (Largo and West), so those trips are in our plans.
The private tour/dive of the Epcot Center aquarium (Dive Quest) in November at Disney World is fully booked. Our
Social Committee is very active in finding ways for our group to gather and enjoy one another’s company and share dive
experiences.
Our club exists to promote the scuba diving interests of our members (and to support our parent organization, the Civic
Association), whatever diving skill or experience one may have. If you have an interest in diving, please attend one of
our monthly meetings, held on the fourth Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Civic Association. And for anyone interested in
meeting divers or learning about our Club in an informal setting, come to the Tiki Hut on Charlotte Harbor behind the
Sheraton Four Points Hotel. We congregate at 5:30 p.m. for a social-hour on the second Thursday of each month. You’ll
know who we are by our dive-themed name tags as we gather on the beach or at the picnic tables. We are always
happy to meet anyone who enjoys conversations about diving (special equipment, far-flung dive experiences,
underwater photography and
so on) and life in Punta Gorda
in general.
Be sure to check out our
website, www.pgidiveclub.com
for information about the Club,
photos for your perusal, and
the membership application
form which can be downloaded
and brought to a meeting.
Dues are $15 per member.
You can also send an email to
the address at the top of the
article if you have questions
about the club.
Sign seen by my friend at a
dive resort dock on a dreary
rainy day as she made her way
down to the boat: "Diving is
cancelled today... if we go,
we're going to all get wet."
Remember, the deeper you go,
the cooler it gets. Let’s get wet,
make bubbles and be sure to
practice safe diving, everyone!

VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH - DECEMBER 2016 Susan Della-Corte, susandc.mail@gmail.com
The Shorebird league will resume bowling on September 25. We will have a short
meeting at 2:30 p.m. to kick off the new season. We bowl every Monday. After a short
warm up period we promptly start bowling at 3 p.m.
Last season we had 20 teams. Hopefully we have added a few more this season. We
might still have spots available to add an additional team or individual bowlers. You do
not need to have your own equipment. Balls and shoes are available at the alleys. If
you’re interested in joining full time please contact Mike ASAP. Time is running out. The
end of season awards dinner is reason enough to join the league. Last year we had a
fantastic dinner at St. Andrews Golf Club.
If you’re not sure about joining full time, come try it one Monday. The league usually
needs substitutes every week. The alleys are Bowland, 3192 Harbor Boulevard, Port
Charlotte.
