BEYOND OURSELVES Marlene Hofer, marlenehofer@comcast.net
September is a great month to learn about and join this group. Our three goals are:
1) To serve the homeless of Charlotte County by serving at the homeless coalition.
2) To help preserve the environment and wildlife by having fundraisers and giving to the Peace River Wildlife
Center.
3) To help the children of Charlotte County by sponsoring the Home Tour and giving to Cooper Street, Back Pack
Kidz, and Crossroads Hope Academy.
For only $10 a year you can join this wonderful group of people who truly care about needy children and homeless
people in Charlotte County and the wildlife in Charlotte Harbor. We meet once a month on the third Wednesday. Come
check us out at the September 20 meeting at 10 a.m. at the PGICA. We are the only club in PGICA whose main focus is
outreach, so please come to our meeting. You will meet our officers, Marlene Hofer, President; Carol Nieberline, Vice
President; Jo Ann Gulvezan, Secretary; and Jeanne Gehrt, Treasurer.
Save the date with “BOB” for the BASH on Saturday, November 11, starting at 6 p.m. Tickets will go on sale October 2 at
the PGICA.
Save the date! February 3, 2018 will be our Share the Love for the Kids Home Tour. We do need some help on the 2018
Home Tour Committees. Specifically, we need one or two people to set up and coordinate the parking for the homes as
well as volunteers for the raffle committee. If you would like to help, please contact Carol Nieberline at
941-916-9338 or cnieberline@yahoo.com
In the eight years that Beyond Ourselves has been having fundraisers for the children of Charlotte County (carnivals and
home tours), we have raised and donated $238,000 to Cooper Street, Back Pack Kidz, and Crossroads Hope Academy
(formerly AMI Kids Crossroads). Hopefully, with our 2018 Home Tour, we will go over the one quarter MILLION mark!!
For a small group this is an awesome amount given to benefit the children of Charlotte County. These three charities
greatly appreciate our contributions, and we all know they are much needed to help the children. Thank you to all our
workers who have made the Carnivals and Home Tours so successful. Do not forget that Saturday, February 3, 2018 is
the Home Tour so put that on your calendar! If you know of anyone who might like to put their home on tour, please
contact Marlene Hofer at 941-575-9222 or marlenehofer@comcast.net.
Charlotte County Homeless Shelter - We need five volunteers to serve dinner at the CCHC on the first Saturday of the
month. Our next dates are September 2 and October 7 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Contact Ruth Kliment at
941-347-7776 or kliment2FL@comcast.net to volunteer.
