MARINERS OF PGI Susan Hills, Vice Commodore, 941-286-3452, vicecommodore@marinersofpgi.org
Your disabled boat has been taken undertow. When a fog bank rolls in, what sound signals
should you make? A vessel under tow in fog should give one long sound blast, followed by
three short blasts. Repeat at two-minute intervals.
Now that the rainy summer weather has set in, Mariners
are doing less long distance cruising. Staying close to
home doesn’t mean you have to give up boating. Many of
our members enjoyed lunch cruises to Laishley Crab House, Useppa Island Resort,
and Fisherman’s Village. A brunch at Isles Yacht Club was also well attended.
Social activities rounded out the
month of June. Our female
members turned out for breakfast
with the gals at Bella’s Bistro, and
kicked up their heels for a girl’s
night out at the Turtle Club.
Finishing off the month was
bowling at Bowland, followed by
pizza at Luigi’s.
Our third annual Fourth of July raft
up and overnight anchor out will
take place near Fisherman’s
Village, where you will have a
close up view of the fireworks.
Dinner will be potluck.
Hope everyone is enjoying their summer, and are getting some boating in, whether you
are here in Punta Gorda or somewhere up north.
If you are looking for a friendly and active boating group, we invite you to stop by and visit with us. Our weekly Happy
Hour get-togethers are held at 5:30 p.m. every Wednesday at the Village Fish Market in Fisherman’s Village. You can
also check us out on our website at www.marinersofpgi.org, or contact our Membership Director at
