Your kayak has been designed to require little maintenance. Just as you care for your automobile and your boat, your
kayak, with a little care, will provide you with years of enjoyment.

After each trip in the water, a washing with a little soap and water will remove the salt and grime from the hull. An
occasional waxing will help to preserve the hull. Do consult with your kayak manufacturer on what type of product to use.
Kayaks are made of many different materials, and what is good for one, may not be good for another.

Look over your hull for dents and cracks. Repair as soon as possible to keep the repair minor. Check your owners’
manual or manufacturers’ WEB site for details. Long term storage is the most common reason for hull damage.

Inspect the riggings, perimeter lines and bungees. UV radiation from hot Florida sun can damage and degrade these
lines/bungees. Replace handles if they show wear.

Replace old parts or accessories. A new seat can add hours of comfort to your paddles. Check the seals on the storage
         compartments.

Check all your safety equipment: lifejackets, first aid kit, sound device, extra water.

And here is a tip. Check your paddle! Alone on Shell Creek with a broken paddle is no fun. I have started carrying a
         spare.

With proper care, your kayak will give you years of service.
