                                                     May 3, 2017

                             PGI NEIGHBORHOOD MARINE WATCH DAY

At the May 3rd Punta Gorda City Council meeting, Vice Mayor Gary Wein highlighting the accomplishments of the PGI
Neighborhood Marine Watch group of volunteers, declared and presented a proclamation by the City of Punta Gorda,
Mayor Rachel Keesling presiding, designating May 3, 2017 as: PGI NEIGHBORHOOD MARINE WATCH DAY in the
         City of Punta Gorda.

PGI Neighborhood Marine Watch founder Bill Guenther and NMW members who were present, accepted on
behalf of the entire 65 member Marine Watch group, the Citie’s Proclamation, to an ovation by the Standing
                                                Room Only Council attendees.

Three months ago the All-Volunteer PGI Neighborhood Marine Watch Group began a
series of recruiting articles in the Commentator aimed at increasing the groups volunteer
membership, which is vital to its continued success of “Surveillance Patrols” on the water
and land, at night and early morning. Since that time, we are pleased to report that four
new PGI residents applied for membership and have been welcomed to the Group.

UPDATE: Currently there is a PGICA committee working in support of the PGI
Neighborhood Marine Watch program to install a system of Surveillance Cameras covering
canal access points and possible road locations leading in and out of the PGI community.
Night On the Water response to suspected marine crime by the PGPD Marine Unit is less
than 24/7...security cameras would provide 100% coverage 24/7.

Members in the PGI NMW are asked to do one (2) hour night patrol once a month. You will
have a spread of two or three days in which to choose for your patrol, and several different
late night and early morning time periods. READY TO JOIN?

Contact: Bill Guenther Marine Watch coordinator; email: radioman3029@comcast.net or phone 941-661-9702.
Volunteering make you feel really good!
