June is bustin’ out all o-o-ver… Who read that to the tune from Carousel and now has it stuck in
their head? Sorry! Not sorry! Here we are in SWFL enjoying the reduced traffic, restaurants with no
waiting and great weather before it gets really hot and humid. The water’s warming up and those
wonderful Gulf beaches are calling to us. Let’s get out there – but remember the sunscreen!
Join us for these activities this month…
Friends to Go – This is a
new feature. Those of you on Facebook should
keep an eye out for pop-up events posted to
the Paradise Friends group. These are
impromptu events organized by whoever posts
the suggestion. It can be anything from the
gallery/lunch trip we had to Matlacha or to the
Short Film Festival group. If there’s something
you want to do but don’t want to wait until it
becomes a Choice event, or you just want a
little company, then post it to the Facebook
group and see who else wants to join you. It
could be as simple as going kayaking, touring a
garden, or maybe a trip to the beach.
Tables of 8 – The best way to get to know
people is in a small group. Here’s the perfect
opportunity. However, just because it's called
Tables of 8 doesn’t mean it must always be 8. If
a host only wants 6 in the group, or wants more
than 8, that's up to them to decide. The hosting Men’s Lunch
assignments will rotate, you should expect to
be a host approximately every fourth month you participate. If you don’t want to host in your home, just make a
reservation at a restaurant of your choice - how easy is that? If you do want to host in your own home each Paradise
Friend guest will bring a dish to share. Either way, this is a great way to get together with longtime friends and meet new
ones. The next gatherings will be held on June 1 and are already set, but if you want to get on the list for July 6 sign up
on our website or contact Nancy Gamblin at nkgamblin@aol.com by June 24.
Ladies Lunch Bunch – Join the ladies for lunch at noon on
Thursday, June 8 at the Thai Cafe, Baers Plaza, 4200
Tamiami Trail #G, Port Charlotte. Please join us in this
traditional serene Thai setting. Enjoy casual dining with an
extensive, exotic menu. Sign up on Paradise Friends
website or contact Donna Rice at dricern@icloud.com or
call at 941-639-3819.
Chow Hounds Men’s Lunch Bunch – At noon on Thursday
June 8, the Chow Hounds will be going to Sandra’s
Restaurant, 111 West Olympia Ave, Punta Gorda. The
Thursday Lunch Special is an all you can eat buffet for
$12. The buffet features: German pork roast, bratwurst,
Soup of the Day, German Bread, Dumplings, Homemade
Gravy, Potato Salad and Sauerkraut. No sign up needed,
just show up. For more info contact Bert Leitsch at
