Inspiration for the day, which we divers can certainly appreciate: “Life isn't measured by the number of breaths you take,
but by the number of moments that take your breath away.” - Anonymous
Let’s take the plunge, make bubbles (unless you have a rebreather unit), and enjoy safe diving, everyone!

PUNTA GORDA ISLES
NEIGHBORHOOD MARINE WATCH GROUP
THE SILENT FEW – MAKING A DIFFERENCE
It’s the beginning of the month and 2300 hours in the late evening. Volunteer members of the PGI Neighborhood Marine
Watch group are getting ready for their once-a-month, on the water surveillance patrol. Using their own boats, they grab
a cup of coffee, a couple bottles of water, turn on the motor, single up the lines, switch on their running lights, GPS,
depth finder, and VHF radio set on Channel 16. Dropping their bow and stern lines they head out in the darkness of the
PGI canals and inlets. When reaching the lookout position, a call to the Punta Gorda Police Department night
dispatchers, alerting them that they are on station and will be reporting all suspicious activity on marine/land. And that’s
all there is to it!
The PGI Neighborhood Marine Watch group invites you to join us. If you can volunteer a couple hours each month
patrolling the PGI canals and inlets, then come join the only all-volunteer nighttime surveillance program in southwest
Florida. While you’re on patrol you will be in communications with the Marine Units of the PGPD, Charlotte County
Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), and Florida Wildlife Commission (FWC). For additional information and a PGI Marine Watch

MEN’S GOLF GROUP Mike Fauci, mmto315@gmail.com
The response to the new Executive/9 hole men’s golf group has been good. We now have enough
players to get started. What we do need before we can start booking tee times, is an additional backup
coordinator to complete this staff. This multiple team approach lessens the work and time load on the
coordinator.
If you are a golfer, and would like to help, contact Hank Bauman at hankbauman@earthlink.net.
