PGI CAR CLUB Mark MacMahon, mark@pgicarclub.com
If you always thought the PGI Car Club was just an Members touring a garage
organization that took their cars to car shows, then you
always thought wrong. On the contrary, the Car Club is an
organization of people who love their cars and love to use
their cars to have fun! Although our members do take their
cars to car shows from time to time, our focus is on using our
cars to visit places that are often, but not always, related to
automobiles and the automobile industry.
The Car Club continued its activities over the holidays. In
December, the Club met for brunch at the Isles Yacht Club.
What a great way to ring in in the holiday season!
A few days later, a number of our members attended
the monthly Cars and Coffee session sponsored by
O’Reilly Auto Parts. Attendance was down a bit, given
the time of the year, so we had a lot more donuts than
we needed. But, we all pitched in and did our best to
see that not too many of them went to waste. Jeff
Barlow was there with his new (to him) 1963 Ford
Thunderbird. What a great looking car!
Following our regular January meeting, we toured a
Texaco pumps number of our member’s garages. Some of our
members have off-site garages, while others have
larger than normal garages at their homes. Many are
truly impressive and contain numerous classic and
antique automobiles as well as an impressive array of
memorabilia depicting the history of the automobile
industry.
Looking ahead, the Car Club has a number of
interesting trips planned including a circumnavigation of
Lake Okeechobee with an overnight stay at a quaint
hotel, a trip to see the vintage car races at Sebring, and
a multi-day trip to Amelia Island to see the councours
d’elegance (an extraordinary showing of antique,
classic, and collectible cars presented in an exceptional
setting).
