PGI CAR CLUB Marlene Jones, 410-703-2252, marlenejones22@gmail.com
If you drive by the Muscle Car Museum on the first
Tuesday of any month at 9 a.m., you may think it’s a
Corvette Club meeting. It’s not! It’s the monthly meeting
of the PGI Car Club. Although there are more than 25
Corvette owners in the club, you’ll find among the 146
members a variety of automobiles from collectible
brass-era and Model T Fords to the current go-fast
Porsches and McLarens. To be a member, you just have
to have an interest in cars.
Our members love to drive their cars, so cruises are very
important. Every month there are cruises to interesting
places, and of course there’s always a restaurant
included on the tour. In October, ECHO Global Farms in
North Fort Myers provided us with a fascinating walking
tour of unique demonstrations, plants and techniques
used by farmers and urban gardeners in developing
countries around the world. ECHO’s mission is to
provide solutions for sustainable farming that will
help solve the world’s hunger problems. After the
tour, members traveled to Hogbody’s Bar and
Grill on Bayshore Road for lunch.
FEATURED CAR #1:
Don and Ann Gordon own this beautiful 2018
Corvette Stingray Convertible, in “Ceramic Matrix
Gray Metallic.” This is a new color for the
Corvettes. The car is a Z51 with 6-2L, V8 at 460
HP and an 8 speed paddle shift automatic
transmission. The option package includes 3Lt,
Bose audio with an 8 inch color touch screen,
front and rear cameras, a carbon fiber roof, a
performance data recorder with color heads-up
display, heated and ventilated GT bucket seats
with 8-way power adjustments, chrome wheels,
Bluetooth and 4G LTE WiFi.
FEATURED CAR #2:
Mike and Louise Gussin own the 1971 Plymouth
Road Runner. They purchased it in 1992 with
12,000 miles. The car had recently been painted
to the original B5 Blue. Previous to their
purchase, the first owner raced in the Arizona
Roadrunner Races. The car has AC, power
steering and power brakes. Since ’92, Mike has
installed a rear deck wing and replaced the
radiator, AC condenser and master cylinder. The
727 Torque flite Automatic Transmission was
rebuilt in 2014.
The next meeting of the Club is November 7 at
the Muscle Car Museum (unless otherwise listed
on the website). Breakfast at 8 a.m., followed by
the meeting at 9 a.m.
