PGI FISHING CLUB James McCarty, president@pgifishingclub.org
Fishing after Hurricane Irma?
Believe it or not, PGI Fishing Club members
have ventured out after Hurricane Irma. Redfish
are being found throughout the harbor; the
snook bite has been good within the canals, as
well as the east and west walls; tarpon are
returning to the central portion of the harbor,
however, the bite has been slow. Some club
members have ventured offshore in the Gulf of
Mexico and returned with nice catches of
grouper. Just a note--be careful venturing
around the harbor because some debris is still
Jim McCarty floating and sandbars have moved slightly from Dianne Bukowski - 25”Redfish
high winds and waves. Note pictures from the
club members: nice trout, grouper, and a
very rare seven foot sawfish.
Our club is active year round with fishing
events, picnics, and many other assorted
activities. Visit our website at
www.pgifishingclub.org and look at our
newsletter for the most current activities
going on throughout the year.

Joe Bukowski and The PGI Fishing Club is one of the finest fishing clubs in Florida. We average over 550
Jim McCarty - 7’ Sawfish active members, from the novice fishermen and women who joined to learn to fish our
waters, to some of Charlotte Harbor's top anglers whose expertise we look to in helping
all members enjoy and become better anglers. Our diversity of knowledge is something that makes our club so great,
and new members are always welcome to join and add to this unique family of anglers.
At our monthly club meetings, members stand a chance to win door prizes, 50/50’s, and monthly awards presented for
each month’s targeted species. As members catch different fish, they are awarded hats, pins, certificates and club
embroidered shirts as they climb our Ladder of Achievement. As members sharpen their skills and catch various species
from the harbor and gulf waters, they gradually climb this
ladder earning awards and recognition along the way. The
pinnacle of achievement is when a member is awarded the
status of Grand Master Angler.
While our club offers many opportunities for our fishermen and
fisherwomen to gather at different social events, we are first
and foremost a fishing club. Whether you are new to the area
or have been in PGI for many years and enjoy fishing, then
you should check out our club. Go to www.pgifishingclub.org
where you will find a wealth of information. Join us at our
monthly meetings held the second Tuesday of every month at
7 p.m., in the PGICA Auditorium.
