ROAD RUNNERS RV CLUB Ellen Say, President, 941-505-9605, bruce2el@yahoo.com
"When did you get back to Punta Gorda?" "Where did you travel to this
summer?" Road Runners filled the auditorium with chatter at the October
meeting as we learned about each other’s travels and adventures over the
summer. Now we are ready for some fun trips exploring Florida.
Unfortunately our first scheduled trip to the Keys and Fantasy Fest on Key West
had to be cancelled. Curry Hammock State Park (our destination) and many
other parks remain closed because of Hurricane Irma. After the hurricane nearly
140 Florida State Parks were closed. Missouri and Virginia sent volunteers to
help Florida State Park employees clean up and return the parks to their usual
pristine condition. You can learn which parks are still closed by looking at the
storm information page on the Florida State Park website.
The Road Runner ladies have a
lunch on the fourth Wednesday of
each month. In October the ladies
enjoyed lunch at Carmelo's Italian
Ristorante in Punta Gorda. No
luncheon is scheduled for
November.
Several activities are planned for
November. The monthly meeting on
November 9 will feature a speaker
from the Punta Gorda Fire
Department who will talk about the
services they offer, including the
medical Red Dot program. On
November 16 we will enjoy Dinner
and Darts, hosted by Sharon and Art
Schott, at the Ice House Pub,
Over Thanksgiving weekend, Nov.
22 to 26, some of the Road Runners
will be traveling to Upriver RV
Resort, Ft. Myers. This trip is hosted
by Marian and Richard Delfs. We will
share a delicious Thanksgiving
dinner with other RVers in the park.
We also plan to visit some of the
interesting locations in the area.
If you would like to know more about
RVing, join us at one of our monthly
meetings scheduled for the second
Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. at
the PGI Civic Association building.
