usual longer distances we like to have. The second drift dive was in 75 feet of water over a reef which featured again a
very strong current. It is hard to see many things when you are sailing horizontally alongside the reef. But, of course,
each dive is unique and the unknown elements add to
the enjoyment and the mystique of diving. Snooks in Key Largo

Social events are nearly upon us and include Fourth
of July party, an outing to Beef Brady’s in August and
more on into the fall. Our Social Committee is very
active in finding ways for our group to gather and
enjoy one another’s company and share dive
         experiences.

Our club exists to promote the scuba diving interests
of our members, whatever diving skill or experience
one may have. If you have an interest in diving,
please attend one of our monthly meetings, held on
the fourth Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Civic Association.
And for anyone interested in meeting divers or
learning about our Club in an informal setting, come to
the Tiki Hut at 5:30 p.m. for a social-hour on the
second Thursday of each month. You’ll know us by
our name tags as we gather on the beach or at the
picnic tables. We’d love to meet anyone who enjoys
conversations about diving adventures and life in
         Punta Gorda in general.

Be sure to check out our website,
www.pgidiveclub.com for information about the Club,
photos for your perusal, and the membership
application form which can be downloaded and
brought to a meeting. Dues are $15 per member. Visit
the website for some ideas about what is coming up!

Remember, the deeper you go, the cooler it gets.
Let’s make bubbles and be sure to practice safe
         diving, everyone!

VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH - DECEMBER 2016 Susan Della-Corte, susandc.mail@gmail.com
          PGI BOWLERS Mike Fauci, mmto315@gmail.com

Even though the season has ended, a number of the Shorebirds Bowling League members
continue to meet weekly for some friendly bowling and possibly an adult beverage. Please
come out and join us on Mondays at the usual time. Just tell the front desk you want to
have some fun with the Shorebird bowlers.

The league will start forming the new teams in September, with bowling resuming in early
October. Last season we had 20 teams. We still have available alley space to add a few
additional teams. It isn’t necessary to have a full team to join, the league will form the
teams. If you do have four players and want to bowl as a team, no problem. Potential full
time bowlers should contact Mike and he’ll put you on the players list. Every week the
league needs substitutes. Please plan to come bowl with us next season every Monday at 3
p.m. The alleys are Bowland, 3192 Harbor Boulevard, Port Charlotte.
