NEWCOMERS CLUB Jay Darst, 913-226-8471, madarst@kw.com, www.newcomers.peapps.com
The City’s Christmas lights are up and parties are being planned! The tree lighting at Fisherman’s Village in November
was a spectacular event and December is sure to offer more! Newcomers and others will surely want to take part in the
Downtown Tree Lighting December 1, the Annual Holly Days Home Tour in the Punta Gorda Historic District December
1-2, the Punta Gorda Annual Founders Week Celebration December 1-7, the Annual Christmas Parade in Downtown
Punta Gorda and the Holiday Bash December 9. And one thing we look forward to is the Punta Gorda Isles Lighted
Boat Parade on December 23! Watch local newspapers for additional information or check with the Punta Gorda
Chamber of Commerce or PGICA to see the details on all these activities!
Our own special event is the Annual Christmas Party at Twin
Isles Country Club December 6. You may wish to contact
Susan McKittrick at McKittrickSusan@gmail.com or
904-400-0375 to see if any late cancellations are available.
Otherwise, the cut-off date for this has already passed! This
event is in place of our first Happy Hour of the month. You
can gather for another Happy Hour December 20 at the St.
Andrews South Golf Club, 1901 Deborah Drive from 5 to 7
p.m. Susan Brown, exgatorceo@yahoo.com, and Michelle
Maloney, macaloney@bellsouth.net, will greet you and
coordinate the evening which will offer plenty of Christmas
cheer and merriment!
We have seen lots of new residents joining the club as the
weather outside has gotten frightful (up north, not here!).
Among them are Chris and Pam Schaeffer, IL; Donna and
Jack Botbyl, CO; Robert and Aude Sisk, AU; Eric and Laura
Hart, IL; Gary Frost and Dotti Balon-Frost, NH; Steve and
Laura Nikkel, MI; Jose and Lee Cervantes, MN; Bill and
Debbie Lemmink, OH; Judith and Andrew Droitcour, RI.
Hope all the “old” Newcomers will welcome them and
promote all the things there are to do in this great
community!
There will be no monthly general meeting as so many folks
are traveling and entertaining during the days leading up to
the holiday season. Your Tuesday, December 19 evening is
now open for other activities! Invite someone new for
supper, go out for dinner with someone new or meet up with
old friends. Get out there in the restaurants before they get
so crowded!
Other regular monthly club activities roll along during the
month. Men’s Lunch December 13 will be at Phil’s 41, 1975
Tamiami Trail at Noon. Joe Bukowski at 973-769-2310 or
jbuko6331@gmail.com, Jay Darst at 913-220-8471 or
madarst@kw.com can provide more information. There is no
need to sign up for this lunch.
Ladies Lunch will also meet December 13 at FM Don’s at
201 Marion Street at Noon. Deb Morlachetta at
609-502-8243 or debrat114@comcast.net, will be making
the arrangements. Bring a friend or relative, but please sign
up on the Club’s website calendar.
Mike Koeneman is making plans for Hosted Dinners for
2018! While it doesn’t meet in December, you can get in on
the fun for the next club year. Email Mike at
