SEAFARERS CRUISING CLUB Harry Ensley, Commodore, hpensley@comcast.net, www.pgiseafarers.org
Well, the Thirteenth annual Seafarers
Regatta is history. In fact, it was about
history. At least, it was about the history
of the 1960’s, or what we remember the
1960’s were like. We had hippies, rock
stars, lots of tie-dyed shirts and lots of
guys with long hair. We also had lots of fun reliving the good ole
days. The weather at Burnt Store Marina in early November was
fantastic, perfect for sleeping in the boats, soaking in the pool,
playing bocce ball, mah jongg, Texas Hold-em or taking a nap.
Regardless of what people did at Regatta, it was fun.
Although
Regatta
was the biggest Seafarers boating event in November, it wasn’t
the only one. We also had a lunch cruise to Captain Con’s Fish
House on Bokeelia. Although Captain Con’s has a full menu,
their fish chowder is a major attraction.
In December the Seafarers have the biggest party of the year,
the Change of Watch, which will be held on December 8 at the
Isles Yacht Club. At this event, in addition to dining and
dancing, the bridge of 2017 will hand off their duties to the
bridge of 2018. The C.O.W. is always a festive evening with
great food and entertainment.
We also have a Lunch Cruise to Miller’s Dockside Restaurant in
Boca Grande in December, as well as other activities.
Check the Seafarers website for Happy Hour at St.
Andrews and other events coming up in December.
