PGICA ACOUSTIC MUSIC CLUB Dan Osborne, 941-505-2509, josborned@yahoo.com

As we say at the Acoustic Music Club, even though we had one uninvited
guest named Irma, the beat goes on. We all suffered damage, but not to the
point where we had to miss meetings, other than to support the Crossroads
Benefit evening, which was a huge success. We continue to gain new
members while losing contact with club members who have been involved in
the past. We look forward to hearing from those from whom we have not seen
or heard in a long while.

This month we wish to Maryann Mize &
feature one of our Dan Osborne
long-time members, Maryann Mize. Maryann is still employed,
unlike many of us. You have heard of her most likely because she
is senior Vice President of Commercial Lending at Charlotte State
Bank and Trust and is very actively involved in the community.
Here you see her happily playing music with Dan Osborne.

Her background is interesting as she grew up in Chicago as the
oldest of eight children of a first generation American of Dutch
descent. Maryann bought her first guitar many years ago and it
remained in the closet until ten years ago when she moved to
Florida with her husband, Dennis. Not only is Maryann committed
to fulltime employment but for many years she has accepted the
challenge of being a foster parent for those with special needs.
Amazingly, there is still time for music as Maryann plays both
guitar, ukulele and takes lessons from Dave Heveron.
What she has learned has been put to good use, because she
plays ukulele for Sunday school and guitar for a praise band,
which is a performance group for worship services. Maryann wishes that she could spend more time playing music with
us, but does feel grateful for the camaraderie which has helped her connect with other musicians. We have noticed that
her favorite music is by far Christmas music which she sings almost any time of year. Maryann, we all wish you a “Merry
Christmas”. We admire her for such dedication to her job, her family and church. We appreciate the fact that she still has
the time to play music with the Acoustic Music Club.
