PGICA ACOUSTIC MUSIC CLUB Dan Osborne, 941-505-2509, josborned@yahoo.com
The Acoustic Music Club is now enjoying
smaller gatherings since we now have the
opportunity to play more of our favorite songs.
Recently we were hosted by Bob and Sallie
Lumsden at their home. William Florian of the
New Christy Minstrels, who entertained at the
PGICA for several years, will be returning for
another show in March. It is very likely that
the Acoustic Music Club will once again do
the opening for his show.
Recent Acoustic Music Club Meeting
Our featured musician this month is Bob
Wagner who has been a club member for some time. Bob hails from the Philadelphia area where he attended elementary
and high school. Music education started for Bob while in fourth grade when he took lessons on the zither. Do you know
what a zither is?
While in high school Bob was a talented athlete so that was
his focus in addition to his academic endeavors. For his
continuing education he earned a B.A. in Business and an
M.A. and a Ph.D. in
History. His training
has been put to
good use as Bob is
currently an adjunct
professor in U.S.
History at various
universities in the
Philadelphia area.
Bob has had many
dimensions to his
work experience
because while
teaching he took
over the family
baking business.
Bob’s next Bob Wagner
endeavor was to
own and operate a
successful sailing school in Philadelphia for twenty years. His commitment to
boating continued for many years with the Coast Guard Auxiliary as well as
earning the 100 ton Captain’s License. Bob met Lucianna, the love of his life,
while sailing. Believe it or not Bob still had time to continue to take guitar lessons
while working.
Bob is a Florida snowbird due to his teaching duties up north. Soon after arriving
in Punta Gorda, Bob joined the Acoustic Music Club. He is taking lessons with
Dave Heveron and favors classic pop music such as Frank Sinatra. Bob is a
fascinating guy and comes each week to meetings with evidence of much
Bob Wagner practice.
