NEWCOMERS CLUB Frank Riccio - flymo_77@hotmail.com , www.newcomers.peapps.com
Whew! We had another month of fun activities for the club.
We started the year by saying farewell to
the 39 households that “graduated” from
our club at the happy hour on January 3 at
St. Andrews South Golf Club.
We’ve added the following residents to our
club since the last article: Terri Olsen and
Sam Coburn, KS; and Joyce and David
Laubach, PA.
Activity chairpersons for special interest
groups and smaller gatherings of members
are busy formulating plans for lunch and
other fun for the new year. Please feel free
to contact the activity chairs for more
information or check the club’s website
calendar. You will start seeing events and
festivals in our area on the website along
with a time and location to meet up. This
will provide an opportunity to take in the
festivals with fellow Newcomers. If you
need some assistance with the website or
the calendar, please let one of the officers Newcomers Graduates
or the committee chairpersons know of
your struggles.
February’s schedule for club activities includes:
Men’s Lunch, Feb 14 at Noon: The group
meets the second Wednesday of each month at
Noon in a local restaurant. Contact Phil Bieluch
at 941-655-6800 or phil@bieluch.com. Sign up
on the Newcomers’ calendar.
Ladies’ Lunch, Feb 13 at Noon: The group
meets the second Tuesday of each month at
Noon in a local restaurant. Contact Deb
Morlachetta at 609-502-8243. Sign up on the

Hosted Dinners, various dates: Contact Mike
Koeneman at
pgi.newcomers.hosteddinner@gmail.com or
540-580-2606 to sign up for hosting or bringing
part of a meal. This is a great way to get to
know people in a smaller, more intimate setting.
If you would like to participate, but are not
ready to host, that is fine too. Just let Mike
Newcomers Happy Hour know.
Happy Hours, February 7 and 21, from 5 to 7:
St. Andrews South Golf Club, 501 Deborah Drive.
General Meeting, February 20 at 5:30: The meeting should be a lot of fun. We’ll have game night. You can bring your
favorite game for others to play at a table, or don’t bring a game and learn a new one. The club will provide pizza and
salad. It is BYOB as usual. Please join us for the night of fun, meeting new friends, and getting to know others better.
Game night is always a blast. Please sign up on the website and indicate if you plan to bring a game.
Dine Around, Feb 28, at 5:30: The group will meet at F.M. Don’s, 201 W. Marion Avenue. Sign up on the Newcomers’
website as seating is limited to 40 members. Contact Rosanne Kruse at k2home@yahoo.com for additional information.
January started out with some very chilly temperatures. For Southwest Florida, it was cold and the winter north winds
were strong. I’m sure most of you noticed how low the tides were during the windy days. A fun fact: An additional four to
six inches of water blow out of the canals and harbor for every ten miles per hour the wind blows from the north. The
winds were so strong that we had a temporary beach at Ponce de Leon Park and other areas on the harbor. That’s
