PGI FISHING CLUB James McCarty, president@pgifishingclub.org
Between daily thunderstorms and
Hurricane Irma, September has
been a difficult month to fish. Club
members that have been able to
fish between storms have caught
nice red fish on the east and west
walls. Hopefully the weather will
continue to improve and we can get
back to fishing. October can be one
of the best months of the year for
both inshore and offshore fishing.
Let's hope the storms stay away.
Jim McCarty Our club is active year round with
fishing events, picnics and many
other assorted activities. Visit our website at
www.pgifishingclub.org and look at our newsletter for the
most current activities going on throughout the year.
Below I have listed some events that might be of interest to
many of you:

many member go out to dinner afterwards.
Weekly on Friday at 7 a.m.: Breakfast at Elena’s.
Second Tuesdays of the month at 7 p.m.: Club meetings at
the PGICA.
Second Thursdays of the month: Lady Anglers' luncheons.
Fourth Thursday of every month: Lady Anglers’ dinner.
The PGI Fishing Club is one of the finest fishing clubs in
Florida. We average over 550 active members, from the
novice fishermen and women who joined to learn to fish our
waters, to some of Charlotte Harbor's top anglers whose
expertise we look to in helping all members enjoy and
become better anglers. Our diversity of knowledge is
something that makes our Club so great, and new members
are always welcome to join and add to this unique family of
anglers.
At our monthly club meetings, members stand a chance to win door prizes, 50/50s, and monthly awards presented for
each month’s targeted species. As members catch different fish,
they are awarded hats, pins, certificates and club embroidered
shirts as they climb our Ladder of Achievement. As members
sharpen their skills and catch various species from the Harbor
and Gulf waters, they gradually climb this ladder, earning
awards and recognition along the way. The pinnacle of
achievement is when a member is awarded the status of Grand
Master Angler.
While our club offers many opportunities for our fisherman and
fisherwomen to gather at different social events, we are first and
foremost a fishing club. Whether you are new to the area or
have been in PGI for many years, if you enjoy fishing then you
should come check out our club. Go
to www.pgifishingclub.org where you will find a wealth of
information. Join us at our monthly meetings which are held the
second Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m., in the PGICA
Auditorium.
For more information on how to join, contact our Membership Director at membership@pgifishingclub.org.
Until next month, Happy Fishing
