SEAFARERS CRUISING CLUB Harry Ensley, Commodore, hpensley@comcast.net, www.pgiseafarers.org
The summer is drawing to a
close and soon we will see
flocks of birds (snowbirds that
is) returning to sunny and
rainy Punta Gorda. The return
of the snowbirds is always an
emotional time, whether one is talking about the reunion
of good friends or the traffic on US 41, at Publix or at our
favorite restaurants. It has been a long, hot summer and
a little relief is welcome.
August was a slack month for the Seafarers. We had our
usual Happy Hours at St. Andrews but we had no
officially sanctioned cruises (although we did have a
couple of cruises to Tween Waters Resort and Marina on
Captiva Island).
In September, we will get back to our usual routine of overnight
and lunch cruises. Our first cruise will be to South Seas Resort
and Marina from September 15 to17. South Seas is a fantastic
resort with three pools and great pool-side service. The beach is
just a short walk across the island and beach chairs and
umbrellas are readily available. Later in the month, September 28, we will cruise to Tween Waters, another Captiva
favorite.
Seafarers enjoy the company of many active members planning
and participating in our fun boating and land adventures. If you
would like to see if our boating group is for you, join us for our
Happy Hour on the Second and Fourth Thursday of each month
at St. Andrews South from 5 to 7 p.m. or come to our general
meeting held at the PGICA on the Fourth Tuesday of each
month. If you have decided you want to join us, contact our
Membership Chair, Gayle Clark at gjhc1611@gmail.com.
As always,
Let the good times roll!
