PGICA ACOUSTIC MUSIC CLUB Dan Osborne, 941-505-2509, josborned@yahoo.com
This past month, one
of the activities of
PGICA clubs was the
New Members
Reception, which is
an opportunity to
present our clubs to
the new members of
the PGICA. Here you
see Dan Osborne
and John Welsh representing the Acoustic Music Club amongst
our display of musical instruments.
Because of the excitement in the room, being heard was an
issue, so we presented a visual rather than musical presentation
of what we do. It is important to the longevity of the Acoustic
Music Club to search for new members at these functions, as we
tend to lose
contact with
other members
over time. The
monthly
Commentator
article has
connected us John Welsh & Dan Osborne
with new
members, some of whom have been in the area for some time. Here
you see, Ed Ormstom, our newest member to our club fitting in rather
well.
Many of the folks we talk to say they used to play a musical instrument
long ago, and for that reason feel reluctant to join us. Any skill or talent
one has is a gift that remains for entire life. As for those who feel
hesitant, we are a laid back and supportive group of people who enjoy
making music with people of all experience levels. For those seeking
lessons, they can be arranged such as with our own Dave Heveron,
who teaches several instruments. With a bit of restored confidence you
will find yourself again enjoying music to the fullest. The Christmas
holidays will be upon us soon and would be a great time to start being
more involved with music. As you know the PGICA-sponsored
Christmas Boat Parade will be taking place December 23, and most
likely you will see some of us happily making music and spreading
holiday cheer.
