JFF ~ JUST FOR FUN Kerry Foscardo, kerfos@aol.com
We welcome our 2018 officers, committee chairs, and all of those who contribute to making JFF such
a great group.
A huge bow and thank you go to our 2017 officers, committee chairs, and to all of our hardworking
volunteers who contributed to an outstanding group effort and made the year a sterling success. Now
that we are a few weeks into 2018 we already have a lot of great activities planned.
In January our Mah Jongg players had a
great lunch and a few hours to relax and play
during Mah Jongg Madness. This was a fun
get-together that was added on short notice.
Prizes were awarded and everyone agreed it
was a special day. Perhaps it will become an
annual event.
February is the shortest month of the year and is named for the
Latin word februum which means purification. Early in the
month the big football game will be enjoyed. On February 14,
Valentine’s Day will be celebrated by all and remember that a
kiss on Valentine’s Day is considered to bring good luck all
year!
Despite the chilly temperature, our January TGIF happy hour
was very well attended and we enjoyed lots of laughs and good
conversation. It is such a fun monthly event.
Note the change in dates. Join us for happy hour which will be
TGI Thursday (instead of the usual Friday) this month only. See you on February 2 at Twin Isles Country Club, 301
Madrid Boulevard.
JFF, along with several other PGICA Clubs, will again be privileged to provide volunteers on Saturday, February 3, for
the Share the Love for the Kids Home Tour, sponsored by Beyond Ourselves. This major fundraising activity will provide
much-needed funds for various children-related programs in Charlotte County. We had an amazing response from our
kind-hearted club members who completely filled all available volunteer slots in just a few days.
February’s ladies’ day out will be Tuesday, February 6. We're
planning a special event this month with a fun excursion to visit
the 23rd Annual Jewels on the Bay Designer Showhouse in
Sarasota, followed by lunch at Marina Jack's waterfront
restaurant. This has been a very popular event for the past few
years, so be sure to sign up to join our day of fun. This year
there are two coastal-designed homes in Granada Park to
explore. Tickets are $25 at the door payable with cash or check,
or can be purchased on their website for $20 if bought by
January 20, www.designershowhousesarasota.com. Proceeds
from the home tour support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota
County. Anyone wishing to carpool, please indicate so on the
website. Groups should leave PGI around 9:15 and plan to tour
the homes between 10:15 and 11:15. Lunch is scheduled at
Marina Jack's for 11:30. There should be plenty of time to stop and shop on the way home. Hope you can join us!
Leader: Susan Kohlback, 781-833-9512, susan_kohlback@yahoo.com.
On Monday, February 12, our fun-loving ladies will be gathering for our monthly girls’ game night. Sign up on the website
for this popular evening of games, snacks, and laughter.
Mix & Mingle is on Monday, February 19 at 5 at St. Andrews South Golf Club. We always have lots of folks attending this
social mixer. Prospective members are encouraged to join us. We will also be introducing our new members.
Save the date for our JFF ladies’ lunch at Noon, Tuesday, February 20. It will be on scenic Boca Grande at The Pink
Elephant, which is located near The Gasparilla Inn and Club. The menu includes sandwiches, salads, and soups.
Carpooling is available and we will be leaving from PGICA. Indicate if you want to ride or drive in the rectangle
"providing" when you sign up on the website.
