PGI FISHING CLUB James McCarty, president@pgifishingclub.org
Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club hosted the Third Annual
Wounded American Veterans Event, “WAVE” in Charlotte
County. PGI Fishing Club was a co-sponsor along with the
Isles Yacht Club, Punta Gorda Boat Club, and Platinum Point
Yacht Club, providing some of our Veterans a day of sailing
and fishing on beautiful Charlotte Harbor. PGI Fishing Club
provided three boats and crews to support the event as
follows: Jim McCarty and Dianne Bukowski, Jim Hoffman
and Ron Topper, Joe Bukowski and Randy Douet for fishing.
Other boats available included Rob & Sue Linehan for sailing
and Jake Dye for power boating. Breakfast and lunch were
provided, in addition to a special flag ceremony to honor our
Veterans who gave so much for the freedom we all enjoy
Jim McCarty today. The Daughters of the American Revolution assisted in
serving our honored guests. All had an enjoyable time.
Our club is active year round with fishing events, picnics and many other assorted
activities. Visit our website at www.pgifishingclub.org and look at our newsletter for the
most current activities going on throughout the year.
Below I have listed some events that might be of interest to many of you:
Wednesdays night Happy Hour at 5:30 p.m. at the Tiki Hut. Many members go out
to dinner afterwards.
Fridays at 7 a.m.: Breakfast at Elena’s.
Second Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m.: Club meetings at the PGICA
Second Thursday of the month: Lady Anglers' luncheons
Fourth Thursday of every month: Lady Anglers’ dinner
The PGI Fishing Club is one of the finest fishing clubs in Florida. We
average over 550 active members, from the novice fishermen and
women who joined to learn to fish our waters, to some of Charlotte
Harbor's top anglers whose expertise we look to in helping all
members enjoy and become better anglers. Our diversity of
knowledge is something that makes our Club so great, and new
members are always welcome to join and add to this unique family of
anglers.
At our monthly club meetings, members stand a chance to win door
prizes, 50/50’s, and monthly awards presented for each month’s
targeted species. As members catch different fish, they are awarded
hats, pins, certificates and club embroidered shirts as they climb our
Ladder of Achievement. As
members sharpen their skills and
catch various species from the Harbor and Gulf waters, they gradually climb this
ladder, earning awards and recognition along the way. The pinnacle of achievement
is when a member is awarded the status of Grand Master Angler.
While our club offers many opportunities for our fisherman and fisherwomen to
gather at different social events, we are first and foremost a fishing club. Whether
you are new to the area or have been in PGI for many years, if you enjoy fishing
then you should come check out our club.
Go to www.pgifishingclub.org where you will find a wealth of information. Join us at
our monthly meetings we hold the second Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. at the
PGICA Auditorium.
For more information on how to join contact our Membership Director

Until next month, Happy Fishing
